An authentic Big Bear cabin with modern updated amenities of new spa, huge deck, free WiFi with Roku/Netflix. Dogs Welcome!
Spring special: Your stay includes 1 FREE, 2 hour Kayak, Paddle Board or Bike rental in town!
My vintage cabin is one of the coziest, warmest yet spacious living rooms around. The center of it is a hand built extra deep wood burning fireplace that you never want to leave and most likely will cuddle up on the couch and fall asleep on the new comfy couch or maybe in the reading chair, but hopefully not on top of the chess board! Yes this living room has it all including a hidden board game storage under the coffee table and a curio filled with books and games from the 1950s pick up sticks and a top! Oh and there is a 1800s' pump piano if you'd like to really travel back in time!
And when not watching Netflix in front of the fire, enjoy our 1950s throwback kitchen complete with O'Keefe and Merritt 1950s stove and huge picture windows showing off the maple tree out in front. (The center grill has been disabled due to some renters abusing it- sorry- but everything else works great!) We also have sundae glasses for the kids (and adults) complete dish sets, pots and pans and special baskets for fries! You'll feel just like you stepped into a 50s diner! The fridge is from the 1940s and in perfect working condition, but since it is authentic it only has a tiny icebox attached to it- so you can't fit a lot of food in the freezer.
This historic cabin was built in 1951 by a Hollywood prop master over 3 years using only hand tools, so everything is amazingly solid yet and in great condition and updated with dual pane windows and central heat, High Speed Internet/Wifi, Flat Screen TV w/Roku with Netflix and a brand new fully enclosed deck (built Oct 2017) with huge spa, comfy seating and dining table.
The back yard has tons of trees and it's own sledding hill and tree house!
Play chess or backgammon in comfy chairs while taking in the huge deck and large back yard.
Off of the living room is the first bedroom with queen bed, dressing table, large cedar closet and old school rotary telephone for that throw back feel!
The bedroom has access to the bathroom which also has access from the other side of the house thru the powder room.
Upstairs to the left there a bedroom with full size bed and 2 twins and more kids books! This bedroom could be considered a loft as you walk up the stairs and it is open- so no door to get in it.
To the right up the stairs is a closed off bedroom with a queen bed.
Just to let you know, the stairs are steeper than modern day stairs due to the throw back nature of the home. So we do ask that you be careful when staying.
The entire house is yours to use.
One of the nicest neighborhoods in Big Bear. Plenty of maple and pine trees make for a wonderful mountain retreat.
Due to the original nature of the house, the stairs inside to get to the upstairs bedrooms are steeper than normal and the bathroom is a little smaller than you may be used to.

About the Owner
Hi, I'm Mike - I co-host 10 cabins in Big Bear and own 2 others! Back in 2014, I decided to buy a home in Big Bear to use for myself and share with others. Because of my love for Big Bear, I then starting managing properties. Over the last few years, business has boomed and I now own 2 cabins (Milo Bear Cabin and Roni's Retreat) and managing 10 others all around Big Bear Lake. I love the Red Sox, Hartford Whalers (still miss them!), and rescuing animals. In 2014, I was looking for the perfect mountain getaway and found Milo Bear Cabin (named after my cat who passed away a few years ago). After successfully renting out Milo Bear, I started co-hosting and managing properties for others. In 2017, I bought Roni's Retreat (named after Milo's sister who passed away a few years ago as well). I want to provide a great, clean, no hassle vacation where guests can bring all members of their family (dogs always welcome and no charge!). I am hoping to travel more so I am willing to talk about housing exchanges as well.Location

Roni's Retreat is located in a nice and quiet neighborhood. We are not looking to rent this out as a "party house" therefore we do limit renters to over 25 years of age. There are other places in Moonridge and Big Bear for that type of getaway. While we want you to enjoy your time here, the official quiet hours of Big Bear Lake are 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. You may use the spa after 10 p.m. but shhh... :) Upon Booking you will be sent a rental agreement to sign which is below: Check in is after 3pm Check out is 11am- if you stay past 11am my cleaners charge me and so I must charge you $100. If you stay past 11:30am you will be charged for the entire next night stay as well. (without being able to stay) CANCELLATIONS: This cancellation policy supersedes policies on any other portal (AirBnb) 30 day notice is required for cancellation. Cancellations that are made more than 30 days prior to the arrival date will incur no penalty. Cancellations or changes that result in a shortened stay, that are made within 30 days of the arrival date, forfeit the full advance payment and reservation deposit. (Which will be owed to us directly if we can not get from the portal you booked with) Cancellation or early departure does not warrant any refund of rent. If you booked based on cancellation policy on another portal- you have 24 hours after booking was approved to discuss this with us and we can try to work something out in writing. GARBAGE: Big Bear Lake requires all renters to dispose of all debris, rubbish and discards at 41970 Garstin Drive, Big Bear Lake. There you will be required to separate into: recycle, garbage and boxes. There will be a $50 charge if garbage is not properly removed and taken to this site. If you leave more than 5 bags it will be charged at $10 per bag after the initial 5 bags at $50. MAXIMUM OCCUPANCY – The maximum number of guests is limited to 6 persons. PARKING: Parking is limited to 3 vehicles. Vehicles are to be parked in designated parking areas only. CHECK OUT: If you check out later than the agreed upon time you will be fined $25 for the first 30 min and then an entire night rate after that. Our cleaners are prompt and have busy schedules, so we have to charge even if you are 1 min late in your check out as they charge us. AT CHECK IN: The home and spa are professionally cleaned the morning of your stay. All linens are washed, beds made dishes put away, bathroom, kitchen and spa are sanitized...etc.. Upon check in please do a look around to make sure everything is to your satisfaction and nothing is dirty or broken. This includes the spa and the washing machine. If there is an issue please report it to me at (EMAIL HIDDEN) within the first 2 hours of check-in with pictures so you are not responsible for anything such as broken items or dirty spa. This is a NON SMOKING unit. There will be a $300 charge if you smoke in the house. This includes the use of cigarettes, cigars, pipes, medical marijuana, weed and vapes or any other item that emits smoke or water vapor. If you smoke on the deck and the smoke gets into the house you could also be charged. We ask that you smoke no where near the cabin. Big Bear is a fire zone so never throw your butts over the deck or into the bushes. Due to fire hazards, Lighted candles are NOT allowed. Main renter must be 25 or over and provide ID at check in. This is quiet private residential area of Big Bear Lake with many full time residents. According to Big Bear Lake rules, quiet hour are from 10pm-6am, so please respectful of our neighbors. If the police are called and a fine is levied for noise, it is the renters responsibility to pay. PETS are permitted in rental units only with prior approval. Pet owners are responsible for cleaning up any/all pet refuse and hair. All pets must be up-to-date on rabies vaccinations and all other vaccinations. Heartworm prevention is highly recommended. All pets are to be treated with Advantage or similar topical flea and tick repellent three (3) days prior to arrival. Fleas and ticks are very rampant in this area and can cause harmful/fatal illness to humans and pets. All items above are the sole responsibility of the pet owner. The cabin owners assume no responsibility for illness or injury that humans or pets may incur while on the premises. dogs must not be left outside alone, this is the mountains and there are wild animals such as coyotes and bears – so we are adamant, never leave the dog unattended outside for long periods of time. This is important for the protection of your pet. It is also recommended that you are very careful walking your dog from dusk to dawn. As the sun goes down, thru the night and as the sun comes up, coyotes are active. They do travel in packs and have rarely (but can still happen) go after a dog on leash. We are not responsible for pet allergies due to pets previously staying in home. There are also wild animals such as raccoons, lizards and ground squirrels- we respect their right to the land so please do your best to be sure your pet does not attack these animals. DAMAGE: The Renter will be completely responsible for any and all damage equal to or above the damage deposit whether accidental or due to renters negligence. If damage deposit cannot be collected on the portal the renter booked, the remaining will be collected thru this agreement. DISHES: Please clean all soiled dishes and put back in shelves before checkout. There is a $25 charge if dishes are not cleaned and put away. OVEN: This is a 1951 mint condition oven and our intent is to keep it that way. The center griddle on top has been disabled. Because the center griddle is chrome and easily damaged and was being damaged by renters, we unfortunately had to disable it. NEVER use any cleaners on the stove- use only a very soft sponge or paper towel with water when cleaning up messes. The oven, especially the griddle can scratch and you will be charged for any damages to it. When in doubt, it’s better to have our cleaners clean it after you check out. SPA/ HOT TUB: SPA/ HOT TUB: You may not put any foreign substance into the spa. This includes, bubble bath, cigarette butts, bath oils, bath salts, cleaners- etc. Perfumes, lotions, deodorants, suntan lotion can disturb the PH balance of a spa so we ask that you please shower BEFORE using. And for your health also always shower right after using a hot tub. If the spa is found damaged due to foreign objects or the PH balance is off due to not following the above rules and we are forced to drain and fill the spa- you will be charged $100. Our professional spa service- drains, sanitizes, refills and replenishes chemicals in all tubs prior to your arrival. There is a floater in the hot tub, do not take this out as it disperses chemicals and taking it out could leave the spa susceptible to bacteria. If you notice the spa has become cloudy after use, please let us know immediately as that means the spa has become dirty during your use and needs chemicals replenished or it could be dangerous for your health. A spa should not become cloudy after normal use which is again why we insist on showering everytime before using. No children under the age of 12 permitted in hot tub at any time. When using the hot tub, remember there is a certain health risk associated with this facility. Use at your own risk. We ask that renters turn down the spa when not in use; therefore, it may not be warm until you turn it on and this can take several hours to heat up. . DO NOT STAND ON THE HOT TUB COVERS. Hot tub covers are for insulation purposes and are not designed to support a person or persons. They will break and you may be charged for replacement. Remember when not using the hot tub, please leave cover on and lock so hot tub will stay warm and safe. During Winter if hot tub cover is not cleaned of ice and snow- do not open it before cleaning off yourself. Do not use a shovel or any sharp objects to clean as it could cause damage. Lifting cover with snow or ice on it can cause damage to cover which in the past has costs as much as $500 to repair. If you do break cover you will be responsible for any and all damage. Big Bear is in the mountains and sometimes bugs get into the cabin: ants, spiders- etc. Due to the nature of Big Bear, finding bugs in the cabin or on the deck is not grounds for cancellation. We of course will send out someone immediately if there are any issues. INCLUSIVE FEES – Rates include a one-time linen & towel setup. Amenity fees are included in the rental rate. NO DAILY HOUSEKEEPING SERVICE: While linens and bath towels are included in the unit, daily maid service is not included in the rental rate. However, it is available at an additional rate. We do not permit towels or linens to be taken from the units. FALSIFIED RESERVATIONS – Any reservation obtained under false pretense will be subject to forfeiture of advance payment, deposit and/or rental money, and the party will not be permitted to check in. WRITTEN EXCEPTIONS – Any exceptions to the above mentioned policies must be approved in writing in advance. WATER AND TOILETS –Please DO NOT FLUSH anything other than toilet paper. No feminine products should be flushed at anytime. If it is found that feminine products or any other foreign objects have been flushed and clog the septic system, you could be charged damages of up to two hundred dollars ($200). STORM POLICY/ ROAD/ICE CONDITIONS: No refunds will be given for storms. Mountain roads can be curvy and steep. The roads are well maintained; however, we highly recommend four wheel drive and/or chains during the snow months. Big Bear requires you to carry tire chains in your car during the winter months. We recommend buying them before coming (as it’s much cheaper outside of Big Bear) We do not refund due to road conditions. The floors inside also can be slippery, we recommend bringing rubber sole slippers. When it snows more than 4” we do have a plow service that comes out that takes care of the driveway as well as a path to the deck, and cleans off the spa. There is also a shovel and melting salts for you to use. TRAVEL INSURANCE: We highly recommend all guests purchase travel insurance. If you wish to purchase travel insurance, go to (URL HIDDEN) for details and to purchase. This unit is privately owned; the owner and or manager/ co-host is not responsible for any accidents, injuries or illness that occurs while on the premises or its facilities. The Homeowners are not responsible for the loss of personal belongings or valuables of the guest.
